Visit to Wellendorff designer house in Pforzheim, Germany
September, 2008In the first September week, Christoph Wellendorff, extended an invitation to Lula Halfacre to visit their superb facility in Pforzheim, Germany. Lula was picked up at the Frankfurt airport in a Maybach and whisked away on the Autobahn to the Villa Hammerschmiede just outside Pforzheim. There a number of guests enjoyed a great meal and attended various workshops on marketing and design. That evening the group travelled to the small village of Tieferbronn, and viewed the artwork in the famed St. Maria Magdalena church, and later enjoyed cooking their own dinner with the chef and his staff in a popular historic restaurant just across the road. The next morning Lula visited the head quarters of the Wellendorff manufacturing plant, where they were met by Hanspeter and Eva Wellendorff, parents of Christoph and his brother Georg. Further marketing and design meetings were held and Lula was able to add her input to next year's designs. The evening was graced with an elegant dinner in the Wellendorff 'Park', where the guests were treated to an introductory speech by the CEO of Maybach and an entertaining presentation of Romeo and Juliet, Wellendorff style. After a second night at the Villa,Lula visited the first ever Wellendorff boutique store in Stuttgart, and from there was taken to the airport for her Lufthansa flight back to the US.
